Bastioni Della Rocca Leggero Appassimento

Bastioni Della Rocca Leggero Appassimento

A blend of Negroamaro and Primitivo, this Appassimento gives aromatics of sweet cherries and red plums which are woven together with earth, tobacco, grilled herbs and hints of leather. Medium-bodied with a silky texture that gives way to flavours of cherries and plums.

Produced almost exclusively in the southern region of Puglia, Italy, Appassimento is a the process of drying out the grapes whilst still on the vine. This tradition was historically used in the Veneto region in the production of Amarone, and goes back many centuries. The lovely Primitivo and Negroamaro fruits are naturally dried on the vine for 25 days, allowing a naturally higher concentration of natural sugar from the grape and combined with a long period of aging to create a supple wine full of ripe black fruits and spices with complex hints of spice, vanilla, and raisins.

Area of Production: Puglia

Varietal: 80% Negroamaro and 20% Primitivo.

Solco Toscana Appassite

Solco Toscana Appassite

Solco Appassimento catches the eye with its intense red, enriched with precious purple shades.

The nose reveals unmistakable aromas of red fruits, among which cherry and black cherry stand out, wrapped in the gentle embrace of sweet spices. A full body wine that never loses its refined elegance. The silky tannic texture offers the palate a pleasant sensation of softness with a long and persistent finish.

Awards:

■ Luca Maroni 2019 - 99 Points

Luca’s Comments = "Its difficult to improve any parameter relating to the quality of this wine. The consistence is evident, the purple colour remind the solid fruit character, the smooth and creamy expression is immediate on the palate. The perfect balance caress the mouth, soft and long the aromatic persistence. The deep inky purple colour underlines the absence of oxidative notes, the clean taste is vanished by the fine oaky notes which improves and not cover the aromatic profile. An archetypal wine, harmonious, where the purity of vanilla and mulberry notes dominate the persuasive aftertaste".

No.1 Red Blend Of Italy – Luca Maroni

Area of Production: Tuscany

Varietal: 50% Sangiovese, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah

Serving temperature: 18°C

Perfect with roasts, red meats, game and cheeses.

The “leggero appassimento” (light drying) technique consists in reducing the water present in the grape. Dehydration produces an increase in the sugar content of the grape. The resulting wine exhibits exuberant hints of red

fruits and a complex and elegant tannic texture. After the harvest, the grapes undergo a soft pressing, followed by maceration at a controlled temperature. Once fermentation is complete, the wine rests in stainless steel vats before completing its maturation in the bottle.

Serving temperature: 17°C

Area of Production: Trentino

Awards:

  • 90 Points - Luca Maroni
  • 91 points - James Suckling

Located in the Cembra Valley, it was founded in 1952 on the initiative of a group of wine-makers, today totalling about 300, who are passionately dedicated to valiant viticulture in the impervious and typical terraces of the Valley.

Cipriani Bellini - 750ml

Cipriani Bellini - 750ml

The Bellini was invented almost 100 years ago by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of the world famous Harry's Bar in Venice, Italy.

The story of Bellini begins when peach juice and prosecco were mixed to create a refreshing summer drink as a seasonal specialty at Harry's Bar. Later, it also became popular at the bar's New York counterpart and now it's a popular cocktail worldwide.

Named after the Venetian born artist Giovanni Bellini, who painted the sensuous colours of the Italian renaissance, it's now available for us in Australia.

Since its inception the peach Bellini is made with only the best white peach puree, whose smooth texture combines with sparkling white wine to conceive a joyous cocktail that celebrates life! From the very first sip the palate is delighted by a lively sparkle that brings out the sweetness of the peach puree, which in turn balances the slight tart note of the sparkling wine, the pink hue is the same as the cocktail served at Harry's Bar. The peach puree and sparkling wine combination complete each other harmoniously, no other aromas or flavours are required!

Winemaker Profile:

The Coste di Moro Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is from the Lunaria company which is a member of the Cantina Orsogna Cellars, a community of green-hearted winemakers on the slopes of the Maiella in the Abruzzo region.

The Lunaria vineyards are located in Orsogna and in the neighbouring municipalities, on the slopes of the Majella National Park, our mother mountain, majestic and quiet, and 15 km as the crow flies from the Adriatic Sea, a stone's throw from the Trabocchi coast: a particularly ventilated foothills area with a microclimate that does not allow the massive production of grapes, allows us to reduce the use of pesticides and invasive treatments.

Today our biodynamic vineyard area is 360 hectares.

All our processes are subjected to a rigid verification process certified by the international DEMETER brand from agricultural production, to winemaking, to the marketing of our products. The Demeter brand (goddess of fertility and the earth) is a further certification than that already provided for by organic farming (in fact, biodynamic farms are obligatorily also organic).
